Principles

Montessori Palau Figueres is an educational centre which first opened its doors in 2012. A modern school, with a family-oriented, welcoming spirit, it offers an education based on the Montessori Method. Since 2015, it has been associated with the Montessori Palau Girona school, which has more than 50 years of experience. It is a non-state funded private school which means that it does not receive any kind of grant and operates exclusively on fees paid by the families. This gives it the necessary independence both in organising its human resources and in the Educational Project.

Montessori Palau Figueres, like Montessori Palau Montgrí, is associated with the Montessori Palau Girona school, with which it shares the motto that sums up our way of understanding education: "Ad virtutem discendo" ("Towards Virtue while Learning").

The school is strategically located by the Manol river, allowing students contact with the natural surroundings. In spaces designed to create a cosy environment in order to foster a good relationship with oneself, with others and with the environment, the personal qualities of each student are encouraged, treating them as unique beings, guiding them and accompanying them in the development of their potential.

In order to develop this potential, we particularly focus on independence, trust and self-control with the aim of enabling the optimal physical, intellectual and human development of the students.

At Montessori, we understand the education of the person as being the self-construction of the human being through interaction with the environment, which respects the psychological characteristics and the manifestation of the human tendencies as described by Dr Montessori. The process of adaptation and humanisation, that accompanies each human being in their growth throughout their life, shapes their personality as a unique individual.

We see the educational task as being a collaboration between the school and families in order to work in the same direction. Our educational project is enriched by the rigorous analysis of pedagogical innovations and educational research from fields such as neuroscience.
